Yoga Immersion

An All-Levels Weekend Retreat
with Nancy Wilson
August 22 — 24
At the Essex Conference and Retreat Center, Essex, MA

"As a bee seeks nectar from all kinds of flowers Seek teachings everywhere. Like a deer that finds a quiet place to graze, seek seclusion to digest all that you have gathered. Like a mad one beyond all limits, go where you please and live like a lion completely free of all fear."
— Dzogchen Tantra

We all owe ourselves the gift of "a quiet place to digest all that we have gathered." The beautiful North Shore in late summer offers an ideal location for personal renewal and transformation as we begin the transition to a new season.

If you have not experienced the impact of a yoga retreat, be prepared to find new depth in your practice as we journey from the "busy-ness" of the outer world to the inner world of peace, joy, and bliss that intensive yoga, excellent food, and sharing quiet time in nature can bring. This is a great invitation to extend to a friend or loved one.

Program Description

Our retreat begins late Friday afternoon with a welcome and orientation session, followed by yoga practice, dinner, and free time.

Saturday morning starts with a silent walking meditation along the Conomo Point beaches, followed by yoga practice, breakfast, free time, and lunch. We meet again for Saturday evening practice and wind down with dinner and an evening fire ring.

Sunday morning reprises walking meditation, practice, breakfast, free time and lunch. We'll end with an afternoon practice.

The retreat center is a private, beautifully landscaped property set on 18 wooded acres, less than a mile from the ocean. The center is a green facilty offering:

- Single, double, and triple guest rooms -- note that there are 13 bathrooms for 19 rooms and three rooms with private baths
- A fine dining experience with attention to special dietary needs
- Hot tub and wood-fired sauna, Fire Circle, and walking trails

The retreat staff are well-known for providing exceptional service during your stay.

The Essex Center is within easy driving distance to Cape Ann attractions, including the lovely towns of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Gloucester, Rockport, and Ipswich and the nature preserves of Plum Island and the Crane Wildlife Refuge. Other area favorites include Crane's Beach, Crane Estate, and Castle Hill.

About Nancy Wilson

Nancy Wilson is the owner and director of Yoga Now, an all-levels, multi-style yoga studio enjoying its fifth year in Dedham. She has been practicing yoga and meditation in various traditions for over 20 years and teaching since 1998. In 1997 she completed a 200-hour Hatha yoga training through Naturally Fit, a small Boston-area school with a Kripalu tradition. She completed Level 1 Teacher Training with Baron Baptiste in 2002. She has studied mysore-style Astanga, and refreshes her practice by regularly participating in led classes, retreats, and workshops. She has studied with Baron Baptiste, Rolf Gates, Ana Forrest, Tias Little, John Friend, Brian Kest, and Shiva Rea.

She bows to the yogic traditions of the East and to her first Boston-area teacher, Jan Trapp-Marble, and the many wonderful yogis and yoginis who succeeded her. She bows to the West, to the inspiration of all those who authentically lead and contribute to the evolution of the American Yoga experience. She considers her practice and her students to be her greatest teachers.
